I saw God today

Well this is my first attempt at a "blog" entry. I’m not a professional writer so if I mix my proper grammar with some country grammars please forgive me. Living out here where I do is almost like living in the middle of nowhere. I think one of the better parts of living in Edinburg is that you really don’t know what you are going to see when you look out the window or step out the door. Like one time I let my dogs out to do their nightly before bed time and I saw the biggest owl I had ever seen in the middle of the parking lot. I don’t know who were more surprised, him or me and the dogs. After a moment of staring he flew off and the dogs barked like they had done some great thing.

Or the time that I was again getting ready to let the dogs out and I noticed a group of Amish playing volleyball in the back yard. We had left the volleyball net up from a youth event and I guess they decided they wanted to play too. Needless to say I had to wait for them to leave before I let the dogs out. Although I had to chuckle at the thought of letting my 125lb German Sheppard out and seeing them scatter, I know that if I did he would want to play but when you see a big land shark running towards you, most run in fear, but I know that all he would want is to play. I know bad thought of me right. I didn’t mind them playing volleyball in fact I thought it was fun watching them.

Now the other night I saw two of the most beautiful sites I had seen in a long long time. The first one was the night of the super moon, I could see the moon rising over Trenton and it was big and glowing a nice orange before it rose over the church up into the big sky. I have seen many moon’s rising up over the horizon but that had to be one of the most beautiful I had seen is a long time. It was also one of the biggest moons I think I had ever seen. As I turned to the west to go back in to the house I could see the stars in the sky and for some reason they seemed brighter than normal, they we like bright white Christmas lights shinning against the dark blue sky. And as I stood there in the cold cold night I truly felt small, and I also felt God. To imagine the billions of planets, galaxies and solar systems in this universe and they were all created by a wonderful God. I just stood there in the cold and took it in, enjoying the beauty of Gods handy work.

It reminded me of before I came to know the Lord. I used to lay in the dark at night and stare at the night sky and just know that there had to be something out there, this was before I had come to know the God of the Bible and grew to believe in him and who he is. But even then I knew something was out there.

It is said that we can see God in his creation and I truly believe it. When you see the beauty of starry sky on a very cold night, or the wonders of a full moon in January, or the beauty of giant Owl in flight you can see God if you take the time to really look. Unfortunately many of us do not take the time stop and look, we get busy with our lives, and we are always in a hurry, in a hurry to get somewhere, we don’t know where we are going, but we are in a hurry to get there. God’s word tells us to be still and know that I am the Lord. In laymen’s terms, (as my dad would say) set down, shut up, and maybe you might learn something. I think we all need this listen to the advice of my dad; we all need to stop, look at the world around us, and maybe we will see what we are missing, God

As I lie in bed early on this Sunday morning and check my Facebook, I was excited to see Edinburg Baptist Church pop up. A Blog? This is a “MUST” read. I can picture the parsonage, the church, the parking lot , and the Amish, since this is the church I grew up in. I enjoy the Edinburg Baptist Facebook posts, and now I can enjoy the Blog. Thank you for taking me back in time ... even if just for a few minutes ... a nice way to start another wonderful day!
